Newpark has spent the past 20 years constructing a world class breeding and stud facility. Set on almost 20 acres in picturesque South Tipperary, it includes a relatively new racing kennel, 3 gallops, puppy paddocks, 2 large rearing fields and a brand new stud facility.
The introduction of imported frozen semen to Ireland has seen many changes in Irish greyhound breeding. Getting bitches in pup is more of an art form with frozen semen than with ordinary fresh semen, with the timing of the mating crucial for success. However, by the same token, litters are greater with a surgical implant when the procedures are carried out properly. To cater for these changes, we at Newpark have invested heavily in a facility, tailor-made to ensure these procedures are carried out to very high professional standards.
Newpark also runs a modest breeding operation where the focus is on quality rather than quantity. They rear mostly their own, but also rear a small number of well bred pups for other owners. The pups are reared with great freedom, attention and feeding. In the past they have produced dogs such as Mustang Jack, Mustang Joe, Mustang Mike, Mustang Buster, Mustang Mojo and Mustang Yank. In the past year, from relatively small numbers, they have produced Mustang Miranda (Puppy Oaks favourite), All Green Lights (qualified 16.27 Clonmel), Mustang Ashlee (sold for $28,000), Mustang Tide (sold $9,500), Mustang Kandy (1st 29.29 525 Clonmel, Oct’05), Mustang Just Fly (29.34 Clonmel, Oct ’05) and a number of others which are just about to hit the tracks.
